I have been affiliated with LL since the 1960's when I played. I coached and was on the board when a younger brother was involved from 1970 to 1981. I ran the junior umpire program for that league for the ast three years. I coached and managed my son in SCLL from 1998 to 2003. Was Santa Cruz Safety Officer for 2002 and 2003. I returned to umpiring in 2004, became UIC for SCLL midway through the season in 2004. I Joined the District umpires in 2005, including a clinic at Western Region. I was UIC for Santa Cruz LL and Capitola Soquel LL in 2006 I am currently the District Umpire Advisor to leagues on the ASAP Safety Program.

My name is Bob Snyder. I have been married 22 years. My wife Vivian and I have two children, Daughter 18 and Son 16. I am a Firefighter for the Aptos/La Selva Fire Department and have been a firefighter for 19 years. I played baseball in Southern California and Northern California through High School. I started my Little League experience in the Watsonville National Little League in 1998. I coached my sons teams from 1998 until 2005, (2004,2005 were pony). I have always been a baseball junky. I knew that I wanted to stay in baseball some way and I kept threatening my wife that I was going to umpire some day. I signed up for the local High School Association in 2002 and quickly found out that there is more to umpiring than calling balls and strikes, safes and outs. I met Shawn Simpson at a little league game in 2002 and thats when I started to learn how to umpire. I've been to several clinics in the past three years. The Western Region clinic in San Bernardino, (which I highly recommend for Little League Umpires), Western States Umpire Combine in Southern California and most recently The Jim Evans Academy of Umpiring week Long clinic in Arizona. I have also attended and instructed at several one day clinics locally. I look forward to working with you and helping out your league in any way I can.

When I was younger I played little league and then went on to play both pony and four years of high school baseball. When I was in high school I was asked to umpire for my little brother’s league and have been umpiring ever since, going on five years now. I have been a district umpire for three years. I have attended the 2005 and 2006 District 39 Umpire Clinics, and the 2007 Western Region Mechanics Clinic. In 2005 I was the Rookie of the Year for District 39’s post season crew, and this year I will be an instructor at the Western Region Juniors School. Also, this season I joined the District staff as the Rules Consultant and look forward to any questions that come my way.

When my younger brother was still playing Little League I was asked if I wanted to umpire. It has now been 15 seasons. In 2004 I took over the position of District Umpire-In-Chief. In 2007 I moved to Southern California and am now a resident of District 40. I continue to help District 39 with their Umpire program when I can.
In 2006 I had the honor to umpire the Western Region Tournament in San Bernardino. It was the experience of a life time.
